Winifred A. "Winnie" Cory, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, June 25, 2016 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born in Kalkaska, Michigan on March 19, 1925, the daughter of Arthur and Bethel (Vipond) Anderson. Winnie is now enjoying the ultimate flower garden with her Savior Jesus. She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, playing Bingo with friends in Marshall, reading and visiting with friends and family.
Winnie is survived by her loving daughter and caretaker for the past eight years, Suzanne Cory of Battle Creek (formerly of Phoenix, AZ); her sons, Jeff (Lisa) Cory of Tecumseh, Kevin (Cindy) Cory of Battle Creek, and her grandchildren, Linsey (Eric) Vandrick of Elkhart, IN, Amanda Cory of Battle Creek, Julie Cory of Detroit and Jessica Cory of Tecumseh. She is also survived by her great grandson, the last joy of her life, Everett Vandrick. Winnie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jack Luther Cory; her parents, and her siblings, Vivian and Owen.
A private graveside ceremony will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery. A public memorial luncheon to celebrate Winnie's life will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, June 30th at the Battle Creek Friends Church, 1305 Olive St., Battle Creek, MI 49014.
